Mountain Bike Season

RACE #1 RECAP

After the most wretched Friday weather, Saturday setup was perfect easy and breezy. Thanks to the amazing people who volunteer to help with course setup and breakdown! It makes it a pleasure to be a part of.

Race Day saw approximately 110 racers take to the field including the mass of roughly 30 eight and unders!

While awesome racing was put on by the older classes, the energy, eagerness and happiness of the children plus the sometimes loving, sometimes aggressively encouraging parents was energetic. Cheer leaders were found on the side lines and on the race course holding a handlebar or just running alongside their child offering a vast range of support/advice. The inevitable spills saw parents streaking across the field to pick up their darlings and give the appropriate support. Some young competitors opted for early retirement to reflect on future strategy. Others got back in the saddle immediately.

This is a big part of what makes this worthwhile for us as volunteers.

Congrats to all for being a part of something awesome. We look forward to seeing you at Race 2, Nov 19th at Coney Island.

Pan Am Games

Bronze

In a thrilling display of determination and prowess, Conor White, pedaled his way to a well-deserved bronze medal at the Pan Am Games in Chile this past Sunday.

Conor’s extraordinary performance kept us on the edge of our seats as he battled fiercely against elite cyclists, ultimately securing the bronze medal. The journey to the podium was a rollercoaster ride, with White briefly grasping the silver medal before ultimately celebrating his hard-fought third-place finish.

Bermuda’s cycling team had yet another reason to celebrate as Kaden Hopkins powered through the time trial, finishing in an impressive 5th place, just 30 seconds shy of a medal.

With two Bermudian cyclists landing in the top 5, this is a testament to the dedication and talent within our cycling community.

This bronze medal is not only Conor White’s triumph; it’s Bermuda’s tenth medal at the Pan Am Games and the first since Flora Duffy’s bronze in Toronto back in 2015. It’s a moment that makes us proud to be part of this vibrant cycling family, reminding us that dreams can become reality with hard work and perseverance.

Congratulations to Conor White, Kaden Hopkins. We look forward to celebrating their continued success on this Sunday, October 29th, in the road road race. Tune in to the Panam Sports Channel app for live coverage of many Pan Am Game events, and for live timing, you can follow the action for the RR. Let’s cheer on Team Bermuda!
